The boy who cried wolf, actualized. Turn up the charge and watch what comes out downstream. The effects don’t change order — which means they’re predictable, which means amplifying them is a choice.
The fable warns the boy. The village has its own warning. In Hebrew the cry is Ze’ev! Ze’ev! — the wolf imported from Aesop. And there is a second commandment running underneath: don’t be a freier (פראייר) — the sucker who keeps answering the cry while everyone else stops. A village trained not to be the freier will stop coming. That refusal is rational — right up until the wolf is real.
What this models: the inflation of a charge and its echo — not the reality of antisemitism, which is real and has named victims. The point is downstream: amplifying the broadened claim has knowable costs, the largest of which is that real antisemitism stops being believed. The order never changes — so whoever turns the dial knows what comes out. The indictment is of the hand on the dial, never of the people who, understandably, stop running toward the cry.
